Growing up in the city and in rural places like my father’s bison farm, I have always understood the importance of connection to earth, animals and plant species. It is sometimes easy to forget the value of what exists outside of the City and outside of our narrow definition of culture.  As humans we strive to accept and embrace our diversity and expand our cultural vocabulary, which includes our understanding of and our connectivity to other species and to nature and to the wilderness.  Our own survival depends on seeing beyond our narrow perspectives and remembering that we are intimately connected to nature in ways that we do not normally comprehend.
