As a graduate of USASK I attended several courses at Emma Lake SK . One in particular, was “Spectacle: Practices in Art and Drama”, co-taught by Alison Norlen (Art and Art History), and Natasha Martina (Drama), Ever since taking this course, I have been making costume and fibre installations as my primary focus.
Making costume allows me to further explore “Saskatchewan Spectacle” and it allows me to think of myself as an artist capable of adapting to a myriad of materials, to acknowledge and utilize my sewing abilities and use my background to create opulent and fantastical costumes.
"Woodlands" is important to the narrative of Saskatchewan story. Part of my fascination with the Spectacle is the process of an unfolding narrative, a complex visual, oral and textural demonstration of interdisciplinary expressions, incorporating social, political, ecological, historic storytelling and commentary.
